I really didn’t intend for this blog to be so neglected. I’ve been suffering from altitis again (damn it!) and am just currently trying my hardest to get focused. Psyche is now just shy of 30, with Tariston having already leveled up to 30. I’m wearing the Stalker kit, though I don’t know if that was the best move. It has a nice couple of bonuses, and the weapons I’m using have +2% parry which is something I guess I’d never considered before.
So I’d like to say hello to fellow T4 Eltharion players, and I hope to see everyone soon. My Renown Rank has been getting some serious love recently (dearie me, was I really Rank 26 with Renown Rank 19?!) so I’m slightly more caught up. I need to keep pushing, but even with the recent nerfs to Witch Elves, I’m still rocking the scenarios. Well…at least Tor Anroc, which is something I never rocked before!
I’m off work for a few days soon, so I’ll get some more game time in, and hopefully more screenshots. Psyche is beginning to look pretty though!
Also, briefly, whatever happened to gamer ettiquette? Is it just me or did it disappear some time ago? I recently encountered a nameless pair of ‘healers’ who not only didn’t heal in scenarios (I realise some healers spec for damage, and normally I don’t mind, but I believe if there’s only one healer in the scenario, or two, it’d be nice for help…I also tend to excuse Disciples because I understand how they work and love my own <3) but who partied alone and the Shaman only healed the Disciple. Again, I don’t really care, it’s up to people how they play, but when the Shaman was then alone and not busy, not being harassed, and his DoK friend was nowhere nearby, I walked past on minimal health and stood nearby in the hope of a quick HoT so I could run back into battle. Instead, he watched me die. I asked why he didn’t heal me (admittedly I may have phrased it a little rudely, something along the lines of, “A heal wouldn’t have gone amiss there”) and he said, “Wtf, if people did their jobs in scenarios they wouldn’t need my heals”. I’m confused. I thought that was what healers were for? So I asked via PM after the Scenario, when tempers weren’t so flared because we were losing, and tried to keep it polite. I just got told he’s just there to heal his DoK and doesn’t care about teamplay, he just wants XP.
Again, play the game how you like, but if all healers played that way we really would just lose perpetually. His DoK friend was luckily more forthcoming and actually quite chatty, it’s just a shame that when healers in T3 are so few and far between we get ones who only heal each other. Oh well, I guess that gives me incentive to level my DoK and Zealot a little.
Hah, that wasn’t so brief, was it?
If anyone actually reads this do voice opinions, I’d like to hear them. Again, don’t get me wrong, I play a healer alt myself and have done in various games before this.
My dearest Psyche is sitting on 25 now, and not leveling particularly fast because <Onslaught> has been particularly quiet. Tariston and I are avoiding RvR a little, which is admittedly hard on an ORvR server, but we’re having fun with PQs and achievements/titles. I recently unlocked Fear in a Bottle and am wearing it proudly in one of my pocket slots, along with something else that I picked up…but have forgotten.
Still looking at my Masteries and trying to buff Carnage as much as possible, and have started taking Toughness/Wounds into consideration as well as my regular Strength/WS combo. Honestly, coming top damager in Scenarios will never grow old, particularly when I’m only halfway through the Tier. B)
Other than that, I’m leveling some alts. I believe the disease is known as ‘altitis’, and boy do I suffer from it. Psyche gets her attention when I get a chance, but when I’m playing for short bursts I’ve been leveling Taloni and occassionally my Warrior Priest alt. But as she is Order and I fear the wrath of my Destro companions, she’ll remain nameless for now.
“Roses are red,
My heart is black,
If I tore off your head,
I’d mail it right back.”
Hello Valentine’s Event!
First of all, sorry for the /fail at updating, things have been a little hectic at work and gaming wise, since I’ve picked up FFXI again and have been playing various other old and new games. T3 is a little quiet when I can get on, and since Tariston isn’t too satisfied with his Chosen at the minute, Psyche has taken a bit of a backseat.
I do get to say hello to Order classes now for a bit (I’m not a traitor, promise!) and have a pretty White Lion to play around with on Dragonback Mountains. Now that a lot of other games have calmed down a bit, Tariston has come back and decided to reroll Order with me til we see some steps in the right direction as far as Chosen vs KotBS are concerned. So we now have an Engineer and a Warrior Priest combo tackling Ekrund as of tonight (this morning?) and will be leveling them up again after we watch a movie. Pics to come soon!
In other news, a fond farewell to Iain Compton from GOA. You will be missed! Best of luck in Germany.
Oh, and how could I not mention the EU first? Congrats to Order on our fair Eltharion (*mutter, grumble*) for making it to the Inevitable City. Hopefully we’ll see some changes there to improve the experience, but I think it sounded pretty damn fun. Can’t wait to tackle Altdorf! It’s a confusing city as far as I’m concerned, but that’s coming from my WL’s perspective. Taking it down probably isn’t half as daunting as navigating.

Been playing at R20 now, though because of work I only really got an hour or two of fun. Most of it was spent exploring now that I have my mount and can get easy access to the prettier areas of the game!
A few problems encountered over the last few days, and I’m beginning to see more of the bugs rear their ugly heads. Lucky for me they don’t really seem to affect me, only my party members and Tariston, which isn’t nice because I know he gets quite frustrated. So far we’ve had issues getting him Ch9 Influence — for some reason he doesn’t get any even though I do. I was told a while ago that it’s because the party leader isn’t in the same area, but we were all in the same zone doing the same PQ. We even made him leave party and rejoin and he still had the problem.
His love for the game was renewed a bit last night after a Mourkain Temple that went particularly well. I’ve been experimenting with Tactics myself, currently using Kiss of Doom and Jagged Edge. Brute Force does put my Strength at 411 which I don’t think is too bad, but at the same time it’s more DPS to make the enemy bleed!
And now, a few problems I’ve personally noticed with the new careers:
- KotBS auras currently stack to ridiculous amounts, and because there’s so many of them all in one place at the same time, it means Str is often reduced to 1.
- Chosen have recently had the above problem changed, but because there’s never more than two or three of them in any one place at a time, no one has ever noticed such a big problem.
- KotBS feels like what Chosen was meant to be, and like they’re trying to make up for what I personally feel (and a lot of the community seem to feel) is lacking in the career by continuing to make them outwardly pretty. And they are that, but seriously, we need to see either less death or more damage. Even as a tank, they just feel a little…lacklustre.
- I’m beginning to see why I don’t play tanks. D: No AP at any time because I do so little damage, at least low level, as a BG that to kill something I have to constantly wait for AP to regen.
Anyway, it’s not really a rant, as I know it’ll be fixed, but I don’t even like the look of KotBS. They look like Paladins, whom I’ve never liked, since the days of D&D.
All in all I do still feel like I’m being a little optimistic. I still enjoy the game and feel like I’ll continue playing it, though my interest in taking up FFXI with one of the guys from work and an old friend (hurrah Eclips!) again is rising, and I know I’ll be taking a little time out to play some EVE since I’ve missed it so. That doesn’t mean I don’t still love WAR, I just think I’ll need to spread my time a little.
Tonight will see us going back to the DE area and doing the PQs there to get the naked unlocks before we’re too high to go back to T1!
I haven’t been able to play as much as I’d like as I was visiting family last week, but now that we’re both back it’s back into WAR as normal. We decided to do a Keep Siege in Ostland/Troll Country last night. We had done it once before, but in the PQ roll I only came 34th, and don’t remember what position Tariston was. We had two full warbands participating. Last night, however, went very differently.
We jumped into a Warband and got going. We took Monastery of Morr then moved straight to Stonetroll Keep and took it with relative ease, only a few deaths and we were able to keep everyone res’ed. After breaking down the doors, there was no Order defence until we got upstairs to attack the Lord. Most of us focused on the Keep Lord until he was dead, then took out the stragglers from Order who were wondering around, including a very annoying BW.
This time, I came 4th, and when I rolled, my roll brought me up to 3rd, giving me a Massive Loot Bag and my first ever set piece, the Obliterator Corset! I’m not quite high enough rank to wear it yet, sitting at Rank 16 and RR 12, but hopefully after grinding some RvR and Scenarios tonight we can fix that. Definitely doing more Keep Sieges to get Tariston his piece.
And also, Heavy Metal event! Oh my, I can’t wait to try Blackguard. I was really disappointed when they removed it from the initial release, but now it’s here! Did Reikland Factory last night, and today we just need to do one PQ. Hopefully we’ll actually complete Chapter 8 this time! Pics later.
We made it to Tier 2 the other night, finally. It’s the first time either of us have breached Rank 10, so it’s nice to be sitting in Ostland wearing terribly pretty armour. While Tariston messes around on his Gobbie Squig Herder, I decided to give a bit of an update.
We completed Chapter 5 last night, mostly on Spirits of the Shadow and Bells of War (which bugged out — we had constant spawns of Champions and Heroes, and couldn’t destroy the bell). On that note, I do despise ninja looters, we had a bunch of people who were genuinely nice and fun to party with, but two or three kept Needing on Witch Elf and Chaos gear…despite not being either. It gets a bit annoying, but luckily I only lost out on a Helm. It would be nice to have my damn Hexveil, but what can you do? You just sound like a numpty if you start arguing with people over loot at T2. I still look sexy:

Tried Mourkain Temple for the first time last night; that was a mistake. Far too many Rank 21s running around and us at a mediocre Rank 12 was a bit uncool. I think I got one Death Blow this time, which is harsh. The Scenario fix now means that if we were still T1 we would’ve been able to participate in Gates of Ekrund, which is a pity, because I really would’ve loved to have given it a go after one of the guys from <Onslaught> mentioned that it was one of the most fun lower Tier Scenarios. Oh well!
Tonight’s WAR efforts probably involve much questing and maybe, if we hit a few higher Ranks, a bit of Scenario’ing. Maybe we’ll finish Chapter 6 as well, all being well.

I was sent home early from work tonight because I’m fluey and keep feeling ill. Fell into bed and conked out for a few hours, which seemed to make the symptoms worse, but I couldn’t sleep again so I got up to play WAR (of course!). Tariston and I just spent a few hours doing Chaos Chapter 3, specifically doing Macabre Fervor. I should really do all PQs to max out my Influence, but I was having far too much fun here. First drop, Tariston got a Purple Loot Bag and took the Wroth Carapace, and I took a blue bag and got my ever so awesome Wroth Corset.
Also, at the same time, unlocked The Pirate title, so now I’m Psyche The Pirate. Yarr! I love unlocking titles.

Did a few Scenarios and managed to win every one, which was fun since last night we got owned in one of the Nordenwatches. Both nearly Rank 10 now, and I think we’re RR 8. After that we went Battlefield crawling and managed to complete the Scarlet Sands quest about five times, meaning 50 player kills in about an hour. Could’ve done more if it weren’t for the higher ranked players raiding the Objectives, but we managed to keep Nordland in Destruction control for a fair while. Reported a player for bug abuse as well, nasty little dwarf.
More tomorrow no doubt. I don’t think I’m going to work, I feel terrible, so I’ll probably sleep in til late afternoon/early evening and then play again for a little. Maybe I’ll catch the <Onslaught> crew online.
Now that we have internet at our flat, Tariston (sorry, Trystan was taken…I thought I’d reserved it!) and I have been playing on our lovely new characters. We hit Rank 7 last night and are stiting at Rank 5 Renown, though I think I may be a Renown Rank below him because he owned so much in Nordenwatch last night! He had 32 total kills and had quite a few killing blows, most of them Witch Hunters, so rock on you!
I’m having unlucky rolls at the minute, so a lot of the Wrecked and Mangled gear that’s dropping I keep missing because everyone is Needing on it, obviously, but last night Tariston passed on one of the weapons that dropped (as he uses a two-handed sword at the minute and I needed a new weapon) so hello to Initiate’s Makhaira! Not great but it’s enough for my Rank at the minute.
We finished Chapter 1 and 2 of the Chaos zone in the last few days, so on to Chapter 3 tonight. Sadly no screenshots, I was too busy defending myself against a raid consisting of a Rank 21 White Lion, Rank 11 Bright Wizard and a Rank 10 Witch Hunter. The White Lion left after our PQ and then we killed the BW and WH, which was really rewarding since they interrupted our PQ looting.
However I do have a link to my WarDB character page! Currently guildless because I rerolled Psyche after joining the guild, need to get an invite again!
